Coming Soon: One-Stop e-Payment Gateway For All Your Bill Payments

Imagine being able to visit a single portal where you can pay ALL your bills instead of having to visit a variety of service providers to pay bills! This is a possibility that Singaporeans will soon be able to enjoy.

As part of the government's efforts to provide a total service delivery concept, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) and Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) are working on a national electronic bill payment hub. The idea of this service is to allow the individual to visit a hub and pay all government and private sector bills like parking fines, TV, vehicle, radio licenses, phone bills and insurance premiums. Therefore, instead of receiving "paper" bills, one would receive an e-bill and pay the bill electronically.

The services of the national electronic bill payment hub will be made available over a two-year period. Towards the end of 2005, Singaporeans will be able to pay their government bills at one website and progressively, private sector bills can also be paid at this website.

With the national electronic bill payment hub, consumers will no longer need to queue and manually pay their bills at various locations. Bill payments will be a breeze and through the hub, consumers will enjoy convenience and absolute control of how much and when to pay their bills. Billing organizations will also benefit from this service as they will enjoy a safe and secure means of online bill collections.

The national electronic bill payment hub is just one of the 3P integration projects that the government plans to implement. 3PI stands for Public-Private-People Integration and it represents a cross-boundary integration of public, private and people services. Why 3PI? "Integration within the Government alone is not good enough. Integration must extend to offering services to the user which are provided by the private sector and people sector," said Acting Second Minister for Finance Mr Raymond at the e-Government Forum held on 28 October at the NTUC Auditorium.

By exploring possibilities in integrating e-services amongst the public, private and people sectors involving related activities or customers, the Government aims to deliver more convenience to the public, create new business opportunities for private sector and achieve operational efficiency gains in the public sector. Therefore the national electronic bill payment hub will be an example of how this can be achieved once it is fully implemented.
